GPI Online Tutorials Now Available

Montreal, May 25, 2010 - Société GRICS is proud to announce that the GPI online tutorials are now available to all members and clients.

This collection of 43 tutorials was developed in partnership with the Commission scolaire de Laval. The main topics covered by these tutorials are:

  • the general features of the GPI system relating to basic files, absences, memos, schedules, evaluations and school supplies;
  • the graphic interface; and
  • the use of filters.

The tutorials are intended to help new employees and replacement staff in elementary and secondary schools become more independent and better skilled at using certain GPI system functions.

The tutorials are also intended for employees who use the GPI system on a daily basis, as a way to reinforce previous training. Use of the tutorials will help reduce the amount of first-level support provided by school board staff to schools.

With these tutorials, employees can evaluate what they have learned and develop their skills in using the various tools available in GPI. Since this training is online, the staff can consult the various tutorials at their leisure and refer to them as often as they want.

The tutorials are available through hosting or local installation. The tutorials hosted at Société GRICS are on Moodle. This is a recognized platform that is used by several organizations as an effective e-learning tool. This platform was chosen for the following reasons:

  • It is available in open-source code.
  • It has a large community of users (more than 50,000), which ensures ongoing product development.
  • It meets standards that ensure interoperability.
  • It is robust and reliable.
  • It offers a multilingual interface.

The tutorials currently available are in French. The English tutorials will follow in autumn 2010. Moreover, 25 tutorials will be added to those already offered. We invite you to consult the complete list of tutorials offered and view a sample tutorial.
