2010 Réunion nationale - Thanks to all our participants!

The 2010 Réunion nationale, which took place at the Hyatt Regency Montreal from November 24 to 26, was a great success.  Enthusiastic professionals explored various themes and innovative solutions related to educational technology in a positive, productive environment.

We at Société GRICS extend our sincere thanks to all participants, speakers and sponsors for making this event so unique.

A new organizational structure for Société GRICS

Following the development and presentation of its strategic plan and goals for 2010-2015, Société GRICS is making some changes to its organizational structure and introducing new work techniques and software development methods.

Société GRICS goes Agile!

A few months ago, several teams at Société GRICS adopted the Agile development approach, the main features of which are as follows:

  • The work process or "Scrum" involves a series of short development cycles ("Sprints").

  • Development project management is based on the priorities set by the product owner ("PO"), who works closely with end-users and identifies their needs.

  • The teams are multidisciplinary in nature and the experts on them work closely together.

  • The software is developed incrementally, so that each increment produced is functional.

Société GRICS implements a new IP telephone system

Our new telephone system was put into place on December 13.  Among the points of particular interest to our clientele is the fact that the system is integrated in the the incident management software used by the telephone support teams.

Updates on our Products and Services


HELIOS - Electronic access to Gaz Métro invoices

A link between the HELIOS system and the Gaz Métro invoicing file will soon be up and running.  The interface module developed by Société GRICS will create a direct connection between HELIOS and the Gaz Métro website to retrieve the most recent invoicing data from accounts receivable.  This is expected to yield a number of benefits, including fast, automated access to information, maximum accuracy and elimination of late payment fees.

Further details will be provided after the interface module has been rolled out.

GPI - Parent communications

During the Réunion nationale, the GPI - Parent Communications workshop presented first-hand accounts of the experiences of users from school boards and shed light on the various ways in which these organizations can optimize the use of this product via telephone or e-mail.

A simplified attendance solution that makes it much easier for teachers, school organization technicians, supervisors and secretaries to do their jobs.  A tool that quickly sends important messages and documents out to all parents or uses filters to distribute them to specific subgroups.  A system that automatically detects voicemail and manages long-distance calls.  GPI - Parent Communications is all this and more!

Edu-group Portal - Current status and future orientations

During the last few months, the portal experienced stability, performance and service-related problems and all our efforts are currently focused on correcting the situation.  Société GRICS will also initiate, with its clients, an evaluation of the portal's future orientations.
